Are you having a hard time with training your dog? Does he chew your favorite shoes without thinking what he is doing? This may be the time to instill some rules around the house. Look at this piece to get your dog in check.

Consider the situation before allowing a dog to kiss your face. While getting kisses from your dog may seem cute, your dog’s mouth is extremely dirty. Dogs go through garbage cans, toilet bowls, and love smelling and licking specific body parts of some other dogs. Many people say that dogs have cleaner mouths than people. This is absolutely a myth!

Make sure you are using the right flea treatments on your pet dog. Many of them contain ingredients that can put children at risk for cancer at a rate that is 1000 times more than what the EPA considers safe! Speak with your vet to see if there are any alternatives that are healthier choices for your pet and your family.

Do not fall prey to the temptation to feed table scraps to your dog. Feeding a dog from the table only reinforces begging. The dog will also be less likely to eat its normal food. “People food” can also make dogs sick and contribute to obesity. You need to make sure your dog is not near the dinner table. This will make it easier for your pet (and you!) to avoid temptation.

Train your dog in your backyard or home, as these are safe, convenient areas. It is not good to teach them where there are distractions. There are too many distractions there.

Always have your dog on a leash when he’s off your property. Wild animals can get his attention and cause him to run out into the street, or a provocation could startle him and cause unpleasantness with other dogs or people. You are responsible if your dog does this.

It can be really helpful to incorporate hand signals with verbal commands when first training your dog. Your dog might learn commands more easily using this approach. Find out the way that your dog prefers and use it.

Ask your vet the amount of food your dog needs daily. Sometimes the guidelines on pet food labels aren’t correct, and following them could lead to obesity. The vet will know what is best for your pet.

When you brush your dog every day, you reduce shedding problems and benefit your dog’s health in many ways. Daily brushing helps the coat to stay beautiful and shiny. Brushing distributes the natural oils of your dog’s fur evenly and it promotes the health of his skin as well.

Trim your dog’s nails regularly. Your dog will be in pain if the nails begin curling. These can be trimmed at home if you use nail clippers from the store. If you are worried about doing this, simply take him to a groomer – it doesn’t cost very much to get his nails trimmed.

A dog should no longer behave badly in your presence. You no longer need to watch the dog destroy your home and intimidate others. To master the situation, you must look to yourself first. Use the tips here to have a happier dog.
